># 2: anything like "and Yhwh-God formed / proceeded to form," or "so Yhwh-God formed / proceeded to form," etc. This is a consecutive action, which rules out both the NWT and the NIV renderings (although in a sense I find the NIV pluperfect even worse).
LOL, who are YOU to take issue with professional translators? You give yourself too much credit, Snark.

Why so many versions of Genesis 2:19?
by Inquisitor inbig welcome to you, bible scholars!
the new world translation by jws reads at genesis 2:19: "now jehovah god was forming from the ground every wild beast of the field and every flying creature of the heavens, and he began bringing them to the man to see what he would call each one..."
the issue with genesis 2:19 is that, depending on the translation, it presents a contradiction to the order of creation.

The hebrews wrote the initial account then followed up with a more detailed account, just like they did with the Noah's Flood account. There is no mystery to this and it has been known for ages.

How do you handle extremely rude people in public?
by Virgochik ini'm so upset by two vicious women who came to my work today.
i was helping a man in my line and they tried to cut in front.
i politely explained that as soon as i finished with my customer, i would help them.

BIG LIE IN THE BIBLE!
by Gill ingod makes the sun shine and the rain fall on the righteous and the unrighteous!.
that's what it says in the bible, (paraphrased to more or less).
matthew 5 :45. so, that being the case, why does he not make it rain in drought stricken areas?.

Uh, excuse me? That quote has been lifted out of context. Perhaps you could exercise some actual analytical skills to the verses before and after? If you do you might discern the meaning of the text.

Church of Christ
by TheListener in.
is anyone here associated with a non-denominational church of christ congregation?.
i read the fairly detailed write-up on wikipedia and found it somewhat, key being somewhat, similar to the jws except for the rules and regulations and the strong focus on end times.. it seems like an intriguing religious group.

You have to investigate the various COC branches. Not all of them are cultic. The one big tip off is they think only they will go to heaven. Another one might be baptismal regeneration.

You know what? I have read of some of the same manipulation going on in the Mormon communities. Now in the ones that secretly still hold to polygamy, those women are abused and passed around like swingers.Did you know the the original missions undertaken by young men (for two years) was begun to get the young guys away so the old codgers could snatch up the young girls, even close relatives were fair game!

name calling and bullying in the name of religion
by lovelylil ini know myself, although i have not been disrespectful to anyone and have tried to enter conversations explaining my beliefs only, not to put anyone elses beliefs down, have been called self righteous, condescending, a hypocrite and tiresome today.. i had a similiar problem at another site and chose to leave because it was not encouraging.. come on everyone, lets listen to reason here.
many of us have been thru a literal hell of the wt organization.
and have had our lives in total turmoil because of it.

To name call and bully others into a belief system.
Believers get much, much more of that than vice-versa. Whenever anyone posts anything that shows moral backbone they practically get shouted down. Ridicule and bullying is always more of a tool for the left leaning, politically correct crowd.

Are people on earth "pawns"in Jehovah and Satan's chess game?
by booker-t inone of my best friends in the world pam who is a non-judgmental born-again christians told me that she thinks that we are only "pawns" in a chess game played by jehovah and satan.
at first i thought pam was joking with me but she told me she was serious as a heart attack.
she then started to explain her position.

Do the Original books of the Bible still exist?
by Gill ini was talking about a born again neighbour of ours on my topic on 'is j k rowling a witch?
' today.. one thing, during our discussion that she brought out was that she had actually seen first hand the original books of the bible.
i told her that the whole, unconditional, originally written scrolls books as first put down, 'pen to paper' as it was no longer existed.. she said she had seen them herself in israel and hence 'knew for certain that these bible books are from god!'.

>Very interesting - I go along with about 150-300 AD for the earliest Christian writings...(and I probably believe for their ORIGINS rather than any so-called originals. I personally think that not only what we have are copies of copies as previously said, but also that the earliest attempts at this writing was probably many years after the death of Jesus.
You would NEED to think that to bolster your own bias. There is practically no reason to date any of the writings this late and that is what the mainstream scholars say. Some of the epistles were written within 10 years of the founding of the church at Pentecost. Many were written well before and up to 68 A.D. and the last might have been around 98 A.D. but then some also argue that the Gospel of John and Revelation both came before the prophetic destruction of Jerusalem. There were early church fathers being martyred well before 150 A.D.
>* Isn't it interesting that no one seriously claims that Jesus himself wrote anything? So, everything we have now is hearsay in a sense.
Not relevant to the issue at all
>* Isn't it also interesting that even the early church leadership was in a quandry over the divinity of christ/trinity and what was or not authentic canon at about the same time as our earliest knowledge of the history of the writings?
It was not at all, the divinity of Christ was known and taught by the apostles immediately, the exact ides of the Holy Spirit took longer but it did not have to be clarified, but was believed even before the council of Nicea.
>* So, how can we (at this late date) pass judgement on such primary doctrine and find radically different results than the early fathers? Their stuff seems to be the earliest we have...
Nope, your whole foundation of reasoning is flawed so badly that all you prove is your own preconcieved notions.
>I really like the way this ties in with the other thread on origins of divine christ and trinity - maybe there was a reason the Gnostics failed???
Because the early church recognized the heresies and dealt with it, under the influence of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Christ.
